Choosing round cable jacket slitters

Measure over the outer jacket

Take the cable's physical diameter over the sheath. A conductor AWG alone does not describe the space the tool's holder must accept. Where a maker only provides a conductor application range, check the actual cable and avoid assuming a maximum outside diameter.

Compare radial, lengthwise and window access

A radial cable-end tool has a different purpose from a slitter that also opens a section mid-span. Compare the listed cut directions and blade depth, and follow the manufacturer's instructions for the exact cable and tool.
